A few months into the role, LinkedIn's CEO was spending time with the creators who bring their voices to the platform. On his UK visit, he sat down for lunch with a group of them. We were there to capture his question and their answers, and turn both into a video made for the platform they all post on.
We had sixty minutes and one clear rule: the lunch itself was off camera. Everything had to be captured around it. That meant the CEO's piece to camera, the creator interviews, the b-roll and the stills all had to fit in a single hour, with no second take on the day.
We sent a two-person crew, one on video and one on stills, and planned the hour before we arrived. The creators' answer came first, then once the CEO has arrived, we filmed the question, with b-roll picked up between setups. In the edit, we cut the answers into one tight conversation and added animated captions, so it works with the sound off.
